Tioana Maxwell, PsyD, is a clinical psychologist at Bridging the Gap Psychological Services in Houston, Texas. She believes that people often determine their worth based on others’ opinions and rarely appreciate their achievements. She wants to help people overcome negative self-views and gain a better perspective.
Dr. Maxwell earned a bachelor’s degree in molecular and cellular biology from Hampton University in Virginia and a master’s degree in psychology from the University of Saint Thomas in Houston, Texas. She attended Alliant International University’s California School of Professional Psychology for her doctorate in clinical psychology.
Dr. Maxwell has experience working in outpatient mental health and medical centers, helping people with brain injuries, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), intellectual disabilities, and Down syndrome. Research projects she’s completed include psychotherapy for children with attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and a doctoral dissertation on mild traumatic brain injuries (TBIs) in military veterans.
Dr. Maxwell has a warm, compassionate approach. She’s a Christian practitioner whose faith gives her strength and hope, and she welcomes fellow Christians, individuals seeking faith-based services, and all other community members to Bridging the Gap Psychological Services.
