Dr. Tioana Maxwell began her undergraduate education at Hampton University in Virginia, earning a bachelor’s degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology. She went on to earn a Master of Liberal Arts in Psychology from the University of Saint Thomas in Houston, Texas, and completed her doctorate in Clinical Psychology at Alliant International University’s California School of Professional Psychology, an APA-accredited program.
Over the past 18 years, Dr. Maxwell has dedicated her career to providing compassionate, comprehensive, and individualized psychological care. As the owner of Bridging the Gap Psychological Services, LLC, she has built a practice centered on excellence, integrity, and a genuine heart for helping people.
Her work spans a wide range of evaluations and clinical services, including immigration assessments, veteran psychological evaluations, geriatric neuropsychological testing, and autism assessments for children and adults..
While completing her doctorate, Dr. Maxwell gained experience in diverse clinical settings including outpatient mental health centers, medical centers, and college campuses. She contributed to research at Providence Community Center in Santa Ana, California, on evidence-based practices for children with ADHD, and her doctoral dissertation focused on the impact of mild traumatic brain injuries on Iraqi and Afghanistan war veterans. Her post-doctoral training at a long-term rehabilitation facility in Houston further strengthened her expertise in acquired brain injuries and dual diagnoses.
Dr. Maxwell is particularly passionate about working with children on the autism spectrum, older adults, and individuals navigating complex life circumstances, providing evaluations and interventions that are thorough, personalized, and clinically rigorous. She is also deeply committed to immigration and veteran populations, offering trauma-informed, strengths-based assessments to support legal, clinical, and social needs.
As someone with ADHD, Dr. Maxwell brings a personal understanding and sensitivity to her work. She views ADHD not as a limitation, but as a neurological strength, highlighting creativity, adaptability, curiosity, and unique problem-solving abilities. This perspective informs how she connects with clients, particularly those with ADHD or other neurodiverse profiles, helping them embrace their strengths while addressing challenges.
Her clinical experience also includes working with individuals diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorders, Intellectual Disabilities, Down syndrome, and ADHD, providing individual and group therapy in areas such as marriage and family concerns, addiction, depression, anxiety, trauma, and stress management. Dr. Maxwell integrates evidence-based practices, including cognitive behavioral therapy and dialectical behavior therapy, alongside mindfulness techniques to help clients restore functioning, relieve emotional distress, and build practical skills for everyday life.

Outside of her professional work, Dr. Maxwell has been happily married to Sam for the past 15 years, and they are the proud parents of three amazing children, who inspire her daily commitment to nurturing, learning, and growth.

With a warm, patient-centered approach, KeiAira ensures that each client feels understood, supported, and empowered throughout their evaluation or therapy process.
KeiAira graduated with distinction from Texas Southern University in 2022 with a Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology, concentrating in Clinical-Community Psychology. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Houston Baptist University. Her professional journey began as a behavior technician providing ABA therapy to children with autism, where she developed a lifelong dedication to working with children, especially those on the autism spectrum.
Over the years, KeiAira has built extensive experience assessing patients with neurological disorders and complex diagnoses, including cognitive, developmental, and behavioral conditions. As Clinical Manager, she has overseen and contributed to countless evaluations, ensuring accuracy, depth, and personalized care. Her colleagues and clients alike recognize her for her unwavering work ethic, meticulous attention to detail, and commitment to finding meaningful answers to the questions that matter most.

With over 15 years of dedicated experience, she has committed her career to supporting individuals, couples, and families in improving mental health, strengthening relationships, and achieving personal growth.
Mrs. Tompkins earned her bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a master’s degree in Counseling from Prairie View A&M University. She began her career as a school counselor, gaining a deep understanding of developmental, emotional, and behavioral challenges in children and adolescents. Over time, she transitioned into working with adults, couples, and families, expanding her expertise to relationship dynamics, emotional regulation, and holistic mental health support.
A Certified Advanced Trauma and Resilience Practitioner and an IBCCES Student Mental Health Specialist, Mrs. Tompkins brings a trauma-informed, culturally aware perspective to all of her work. She believes that mental health and personal growth are deeply interconnected with emotional, social, familial, and cultural contexts. Her therapeutic approach is warm, patient-centered, and highly individualized, designed to meet clients where they are in their journey while empowering them to achieve lasting change.
